What was the business need?

The City of Reykjavík collaborates with external teams, such as SOFTIQ and Imperio, to enhance the expertise of its internal specialists in public and government projects.

One such project in the "SFS - Education" domain involved the development of an application dedicated to parents seeking to enroll their children in school. This application aimed to replace the traditional paper-based enrollment process with a streamlined electronic system.

In the "VEL - Welfare" domain, an application was developed to assist individuals with disabilities. They can now conveniently schedule consultations with officials by selecting preferred dates through the application.

These initiatives reflect the City of Reykjavík's commitment to leveraging technology for improved efficiency and accessibility in public services.

What was the challenge?

With the digitization process of the City of Reykjavik, a new IT department has been established. Projects are managed using Agile methodology and Scrum framework. Together with the Icelandic team on the client side, we learned to work hand in hand to build a strong framework for collaboration and overcome any potential challenge.

What was the solution?

The goal of the project is to provide user-oriented services and reduce paper consumption when submitting applications. The system has been designed with full integration capabilities, allowing it to be combined with other ones.

It aims to make services more accessible to individuals by making it easier for them to submit applications, book counseling calls, and then assign them to the most appropriate consultant to meet each person's needs. The main goal is to streamline the registration of requests and applications and to make the flow of information about the services provided more efficient.

Our project process & workflow

We used the SCRUM methodology in our projects for the City of Reykjavík.

Most of the design, content, and briefing materials were provided by the client, and through in-depth workshops and brainstorming sessions, we were able to develop a proper workflow and properly implement all functionalities.

What did the client get?

Better access to services and information for citizens

Better work environment for Reykjavik City Hall employees and consultants

 Reduced paper consumption

A system that integrates with many other ones in one place

Efficiency and increased speed of submitting applications
